SATO acquires Datalase, the Inline Digital Printing Leader and appoints new CEO

SATO, a leading global provider of Auto-ID solutions that empowers workforces and streamlines operations, acquired a 100% share of UK-based inline digital printing (IDP) leader, DataLase.

The two companies first teamed in October 2015, forming the strategic partnership SpeciaLase to introduce the game-changing DataLase IDP technology to Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. SATO held a 33.3% share of DataLase prior to this acquisition.

Intramezzo supported Datalase in the appointment of a COO, Andrew Wragg, as part of the succession planning strategy in May 2016. He now takes up the post of CEO following Chris Wyres’ decision to step down.

Andrew has more than 15 years of experience in supplying advanced materials and solutions to the semiconductor, packaging, display and photovoltaic industries. He commented: “I am delighted to become CEO of DataLase. The company has a rare combination of revolutionary technology, talented people, dedication to innovation and momentum in the market. The company, as part of SATO, is positioned to become a major global player in the laser digital printing market.”
